For those who are in Iowa, please download and print (many copies if you can) this flyer to distribute to caucus goers:
FINAL Flyer for Caucus Goer Iowa Caucus 2016
OVERVIEW and LOGIC of the Watch The Vote 2016 strategy for Iowa Caucus Night, February 1, 2016: 1650 Iowa Caucus participants attend the 1650 Iowa Caucus local GOP gatherings at about 7 AM. (The same is happening in the Democratic gatherings.) a) After the vote is taken and counted, these 1650 participants make their own tally sheet as to the votes cast for each Presidential candidate in their local caucus, and, preferably and more importantly, snap a cell phone picture of the Official Tally Sheet at their local caucus. (If they aren’t allowed to snap a cell phone picture of the Official Tally Sheet, each person takes a picture of his or her own tally sheet); b) then each person emails his or her cell phone picture, together with his or her name and what local caucus they attended — to WatchTheVote2016@gmail.com c) Volunteers at Watch The Vote post these cell phone pictures on the WatchTheVote2016.com website by county.
Conclusion: With cell phone pictures of the Official Tally Sheets posted PUBLICLY on the WatchTheVote2016.com website, the Iowa GOP, or the Iowa Democratic Party, cannot falsify the Iowa Caucus vote, ether by accident, or on purpose. And the nation will get a fair and accurate count.
Whatever you can do in Iowa, whether you will be attending a local Caucus in Iowa on February 1, 2016, or are willing to work from your home in another state, email us with what you are willing and able to do — at WatchTheVote2016@gmail.com
IOWA
If you are on the ground in Iowa, or near Iowa:
- If you are going to attend a Caucus, after you vote and the votes are counted at your local Caucus, send a cell phone picture of the official tally sheet made by your Caucus Chairman to WatchTheVote2016@gmail.com . As a pre-caution,make your own list of the Presidential candidate totals as they are read out by your local Caucus Chairman. This is what Edward True did at his Caucus in 2012 (see image below). Then, if you are prevented from getting a cell phone picture of the official tally sheet at your local caucus, you can send a picture of your own tally sheet. (An actual cell phone picture of the official tally sheet is ideal, but if you are prevented from getting this, a cell phone picture of your tally sheet, together with an affidavit from you attesting to its accuracy, — is also good legal testimony.)
- Then, send your cell phone picture of the Official Tally Sheet to WatchTheVote2016@gmail.com together with the caucus you attended, as well as your name and phone number.
- If you are attending a caucus at a location where more than one caucus is taking place, recruit others to do the same as you (and exchange contact information with them), and/or after you get a photo of the tally sheet at your caucus, immediately go to other caucus rooms and try to get photos of those tally sheets.
— The image immediately below is the cell phone picture that Edward True took of the tally sheet which he himself made of the Presidential votes cast at his local caucus, at a library in the city of Moulton, Appanoose county, Iowa:
Notice that Mr. True’s tally sheet showed that Romney got 2 votes. The next day it was discovered that the Iowa GOP gave Romney 22 votes for this local caucus. Since the Iowa GOP claimed Romney had won by only 8 votes statewide, this 20 vote discrepancy changed the winner from Romney to Santorum. This self-made tally sheet by Edward True, together with an affidavit from Mr. True, carried the day and forced the Iowa GOP to change the winner in the Iowa Caucus of 2016. This was a first is US history as far as we know. Romney was wrongly announced as the winner on caucus night, January 3, 2012 — but by the certification of the results two weeks later, the Iowa GOP was forced to acknowledge that Santorum was the real winner.
If you are near Iowa and are willing to go to a Caucus and monitor the results
- If you are allowed to observe as an outsider, then take a picture of the Official Tally Sheet at the end of the Caucus, and make your own list when the results are called out after the votes are counted.
- If no outside observers are allowed into the Caucus you monitor, you have to ask someone attending to take a cell phone of the Official Tally Sheet, and then email it to your cell phone, at which point you can email it to Watch the Vote at WatchTheVote2016@gmail.com with the name and address of the Caucus.
- At locations where more than one caucus is taking place, after getting a photo of the tally sheet at one caucus, immediately go to other caucus rooms and try to get photos of those tally sheets, also.
If you live anywhere in the United States
- We need volunteers in January 2016 to contact people in Iowa by Facebook, email, etc. and educate them on how to Watch The Vote at their local caucus. We will have conference calls for this very frequently, maybe nightly. Go to our WatchTheVote2016 Facebook group page and urge others to do so.
- We need at least 20 volunteers for Iowa Caucus night, Feb. 1, 2016 to manage 5 counties each and post the cell phone pictures in the proper county as the results come in.
- We need as many volunteers as possible to spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, email, and to point people towards our conference calls.
Remember, contact us at WatchTheVote2016@gmail.com at any time to volunteer or on any of these issues or questions.
